The event will take place at the Gambelas Campus of the University of Algarve, which is located around 6,5km from Faro’s city center. All sessions will take place in the videoconference room 0.10 on the bottom floor of the “Edifício 1” (Building 1). In the map below, the location of this room is in the “Serviços de Informática” (IT support).
Since there are no hotels near the Gambelas Campus, we advise the workshop participants to find an accomodation in Faro’s city center (see some suggestions of hotels below), where you can easily get public transportation to go to the Gambelas Campus.
The DiL 2022 organization has arranged a bus to transport the participants from downtown Faro to the Gambelas Campus, free of charge. The bus will depart from Faro’s city center at the bus station in front of the “Alfândega de Faro” (Customs of Faro) – see map below – and will only stop at the Gambelas Campus, on the bus stop in front of Building 1 (see map above). The bus can be identified easily since it will carry the markings “Universidade do Algarve”.

If you bring your car to Faro, there is a freely available parking zone inside the Gambelas Cumpus, which you can use to park your car and attend the event.
If you want to get to the Gambelas Campus from the airport, the best option is to take a taxi (the Gambelas Campus it is just 4km from the airport, but there is no direct connection between them through public transportation). The taxi fare should be around 10-15 euros.
How to get to Faro’s city center
If you arrive by bus or by train, the bus station and the train station are in the city center.
If you arrive by airplane, Faro’s airport is about 7 km from the city center. From there you can go to the city center by taking the bus line 16 (stop at Terminal Rodoviário). You can also get a taxi (it should cost around 15 Euros to go to Faro).
If you come by car, virtually all parking in Faro’s city center is paid. However, there is a large free parking about 5 min. from the city center, where you should be able to find free available places to park.
The population of the Algarve nearly triples in the summer, and therefore it may be harder to find accommodation at reasonable prices. We recommend that the workshop participants stay lodged in Faro’s city center. There are many restaurants in the city center or nearby, and one can easily get there to the airport or to the Gambelas Campus. You will also be near the historical center. Some hotels in the area are:
- Stay hotel (Faro Centro).
- Hotel Faro (more expensive)
- Hotel Dom Bernardo
- Hotel Adelaide (more reasonable prices)
- Hotel Afonso III (more reasonable prices, 10 min. by walk from the city center)
